Capybara & Friends: Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-11-02
This policy explains how the iOS and Android app "水豚和牠的朋友們" (Capybara & Friends, "the App") handles your data. The App is developed and operated by Maderaojen, an individual developer ("we", "us").
Summary
- The App needs no account. We do not collect or store your personal data, and we have no access to it.
- Your game progress stays on your device.
- There are no ads during normal play. Ads are shown by Google AdMob only when you choose to watch an ad to keep playing; at that point Google may process some device data.
Data stored on your device
The following data is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- Game progress, best scores and tutorial progress
- Your yuzu savings, character looks and accessories
- Game, display and control settings
The App has no server of its own and uses no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services. Deleting the App deletes this data. It is not transferred when you switch devices.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The App loads and shows a Google AdMob rewarded ad only when a run ends and you tap the "看廣告,接著玩" (watch an ad to keep playing) button. Unless you tap it, the App does not load ads or connect to any ad service.
When an ad is shown, Google may collect and process:
- Device information and advertising identifiers (on iPhone, the IDFA is shared only if you allow tracking; on Android, the advertising ID)
- Approximate location (estimated from your IP address)
- Interactions with the ad (for example, whether it was watched or tapped)
- Ad diagnostics and performance data
Google uses this data to serve ads, measure ad performance and prevent fraud. Ad content is limited to the "General audiences" rating.
In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, you are asked for consent before the first ad; on iPhone you are asked whether to allow tracking. If you decline, you can still watch an ad to keep playing; the ad just won't be personalized.
For how Google handles this data, see:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Sharing with third parties
Apart from Google AdMob as described above, we do not provide, sell or share any data with third parties. Google handles ad-related data under its Privacy Policy and the Google Ads Data Processing Terms.
In-app purchases
The App currently has no in-app purchases. If they are added, payments will be handled by Apple or Google, we will not receive your payment details, and this policy will be updated.
Retention and deletion
- Data on your device: kept until you delete the App.
- Ad-related data: kept by Google under its own policies. You can turn off tracking, reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings at any time, or manage it in Google's My Ad Center (https://myadcenter.google.com/).
- We keep none of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete. If you still have questions or need help, email us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act or the EU General Data Protection Regulation), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, or to object to certain processing. Because we hold no personal data about you, please use the device settings or Google's tools above for ad-related requests. For anything else, email us and we will reply within 30 days.
Children
The App is intended for users aged 13 and over. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data through the App, email us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
